John Custer Director of Federal Strategic Missions and Programs, EMC
Major General USA (Ret.) brings 30 years of leadership in U.S. Army

Custer brings more than thirty years of senior leadership in the United States Army, most recently as the Commanding General of the United States Army’s Intelligence Center and School.
In his new role at EMC, he will be responsible for driving strategy, business development, mission requirements planning and program execution for EMC’s Federal division.
Custer brings a background and experience in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) operations and intelligence training to his new position. He has more than three decades of government experience with intelligence, secure communications architectures, information technology and surveillance operations. Prior to serving as Commanding General of the US Army Intelligence Center and School, Custer spent four years as the Director of Intelligence (J2) United States Central Command where he supervised intelligence operations in twenty seven nations across the Middle East. He supervised all coalition nation intelligence relationships, intelligence assessment and production and oversaw all ISR operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Horn of Africa and the remainder of the Middle East. In addition, Custer worked as a Space Architectures Planner for the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Nuclear Weapons Targeting Officer aboard the Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Airborne Command Post.
