Summer 2011 Edition of Backupify Google Apps Backup Service
With centralized dashboard and notifications panels
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 26, 2011 at 3:13 pmBackupify, provider of data management services for cloud-based applications, announced the availability of the Summer 2011 Edition of its Google Apps backup service.
The latest edition of this service provides ability to search, monitor, analyze and control Google Apps data. The Summer Edition includes new centralized Dashboard and Notifications panels to simplify domain-wide administration. It also features the production launch of Backupify’s CloudSight search service that makes it easy for IT administrators to locate items anywhere in the archive.
The new capabilities of the Summer 2011 Edition are available at no extra cost to all Backupify subscribers backing up a Google Apps domain.
Since its initial release in 2010, more than 4,500 businesses have chosen Backupify to safeguard their critical information in Google Apps. Recently, The Museum of Modern Art in New York selected Backupify to protect their data as it migrated more than 1,000 accounts from Microsoft Exchange to Google Apps. After evaluating competing alternatives, they chose Backupify for its ease of use, the ability to restore data quickly and its cost-effectiveness compared to other solutions. As a result, the Museum was able to realize cost savings, prevent downtime due to data loss, and focus more IT resources on its day to day business.
Backupify provides an automated backup and archiving service that gives IT administrators a separate, independent copy of their Google Apps data. This protects against unintended data deletion, hacked accounts and service disruptions. Plus, Backupify makes it easy to find, download and restore information spanning backup data anywhere in the archive and for any Google Apps user.
"Backupify has become synonymous with sleep – as in I sleep well at night knowing all of our Google Apps Email, Calendar, Contacts, Docs, and Sites are automatically backed up," said Russell Greenwald, Director of IT Services for Crimson Hexagon. "Google’s service has been stable, but there are no mechanisms to protect against accidental or even malicious deletions. The team at Backupify has been very responsive to all of our needs, and the product just works. It’s a great value on top of it all."
Backupify for Google Apps now includes
the following features to optimize
the Google Apps experience for business users:
- Dashboard & Notifications for Centralized Management: Backupify for Google Apps now provides users with dashboard and notification consoles. These provide a consolidated view of all domain activity. Domain administrators can verify the accuracy of all backups to ensure that their data is properly protected for all users.
- CloudSight Search: Previously only available to beta test users, CloudSight Search is available for all Backupify for Google Apps customers. The service enables domain administrators to locate any item stored across all archived Gmail accounts. Full search capabilities for Google Apps data will follow later this summer.
- Full Account Download: Backupify now provides domain administrators with the ability to download all data associated with a given user account to a local archive. This functionality is particularly essential for inactive accounts (e.g. when an employee leaves a company) and streamlines the process of merging data between Google Apps user accounts.
"As businesses continue to embrace Google Apps, it’s critical that they are provided with the tools necessary to enhance the security, reliability and accessibility of this new cloud environment," said Rob May, CEO and co-founder of Backupify. "With the latest release of our Google Apps solution, we now provide our users with access and visibility to their data that mirrors the functionality of the on-premise experience."
