With PCIe flash modules

SANRAD, a storage acceleration and virtualization company, announces the launch of the V-Switch XL storage acceleration appliance, which provides application-based acceleration over embedded Flash.

SANRAD’s approach provides the best way to extend the benefits of Flash storage across multiple servers and storage devices in the data center.

"The development of the V-Switch XL was in direct response to our customers’ feedback," says Dr. Allon Cohen, SANRAD’s VP Marketing and Product Management."They required an efficient and affordable way to fully leverage Flash, which the V-Switch XL Flash Cache architecture fully addresses."

The V-Switch XL features front-loadable PCI-e Flash modules, providing unparalleled access. The dynamic cache software of the V-Switch XL ensures that high-density Flash is shared across the storage network, providing the lowest costs and highest utilization on the market while simultaneously increasing the lifespan of the Flash. The 2x-10x faster performance of key business applications enables long-term savings across the organization.

The V-Switch XL provides up to 10 terabytes of Flash cache per switch and operates an advanced policy-based caching technology. Caching efficiency increases over time as the algorithms learn data access patterns of key applications and customers. The software is designed to accelerate specific applications such as Microsoft SQL databases, Microsoft Exchange and online analysis (OLAP).

"What makes this device especially suitable for the private and public cloud is that it is complementary to existing servers and SAN hardware," continues Dr Cohen. "It increases their speed while ensuring high performance for key applications. The V-Switch XL enables IT departments and cloud providers to deliver ‘just-in-time’ Flash performance without needing to invest in Flash hardware across the entire server infrastructure."

Comments

We had no news about this Israeli start-up since two years and it has no more web site for a while last year. But it has not disappeared and comes back with faster switches, a market where it's not easy to compete with historical leaders like Brocade, Cisco, Emulex or QLogic.

Sanrad was born in 2000 and got $30 million in financial funding. It has offices in Mahwab, NJ and Beijing, China.
