UK eMediaPlus Said Its Recertified Media is Secure
It was instigated by CB Richard Ellis Investors.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on July 5, 2011 at 2:51 pmPutting paid to the criticism directed toward recertified media, eMediaPlus have thrown down the gauntlet and proved that their recertified media is secure.
The testing was instigated by CB Richard Ellis Investors, international venture capitalists with 15 offices worldwide.
Earlier this year within a test environment in their European Head Office in London, they prepared an LTO-4 tape with unimportant data and gave it to eMediaplus. The tape was then sent off for a stringent 10 stage cleansing process and then returned to CBRE cleansed and packed as new. Finally CBRE engaged the services of R&R Group Services Ltd., managed data recovery specialists to test the recertified tape for any traces of data. The LTO-4 was passed as being as clean as a brand new tape.
eMediaplus are striving to make landfill of tape media a thing of the past by offering a guaranteed data eradication of existing tapes and making them reusable over and over. Most tape media used today for backups are only used for a tiny fraction of what they are capable of, so consequently, if the media can be effectively and securely cleansed it is positive news for budgets.
Henry Wetherman, IT Manager CB Richard Ellis Investors commented:" As with many international organisations who keep their backups on tape media, security is the absolute first priority. After initial scepticism regarding recertified media we were extremely reassured with the test results. We now have the potential to save both money and the environment by reusing our own tapes, confident that our security is not jeapardised in any way."
eMediaplus focuses on tape and disk media
for buyback and supply:
- Supply all tape media requirements at the low prices
- Provide the best price on the day by identifying the best deals across the US and Europe every day. Any format, any quantity, any time
- Supply recertified media at up to 50% less than new media. Recertified media is previously used media but it has been through a stringent 9 stage process to eradicate any data and to bring tape cartridges back to new both physically and with its functionality
- Buy back used tape media to support the recertification process. Buy all the up to date formats for up to £10 per tape. Not all tape has value as old formats are not in demand. However, LTO-2, LTO-3, LTO-4 are in demand as is IBM and STK tape such as T1000, SDLT and AIT. Even different brands of certain tape formats warrant higher buy back rates
- 9 stage process which guarantees complete data eradication.
