Ted Stinson Senior VP WW Sales, Quantum
Replacing Bill Britts
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 15, 2011 at 3:15 pmQuantum Corp. announced that Ted Stinson has been named senior vice president, Worldwide Sales.
Stinson brings a range of sales and marketing experience to the role, most recently as vice president, Americas Sales – Advanced Technologies at Symantec Corp. He will report directly to CEO Jon Gacek and have responsibility for driving Quantum’s sales and field operations around the globe.
"As we continue to build on our product and technology leadership to deliver revenue growth, we are also focusing greater attention on aligning our sales resources more effectively against our expanded opportunities, improving overall sales productivity and engaging more broadly and deeply with channel partners," said Gacek. "With this in mind, I felt it was important to bring on a senior leader dedicated exclusively to managing our global sales team. Ted has a proven track record of success in driving revenue growth and creating channel velocity. In addition, he knows what it takes to win in the larger and more complex deals in which we’re increasingly involved."
Stinson spent seven years at Symantec and Veritas Software, prior to its acquisition by Symantec. Most recently, he led the 200-person sales organization responsible for the half-billion dollar portfolio of high-growth solutions that included data loss prevention, deduplication and archiving. Stinson also served as vice president, Strategic Operations at Symantec, where he oversaw business development, alliances, pricing, strategy and strategic marketing organizations for the Data Center Management Group.
Prior to joining Veritas, Stinson spent five years at Embark, where he held key senior sales, marketing and product roles. During his time there he helped establish Embark as a provider of SaaS-based solutions to the higher education vertical market and complete the sale of the company to The Princeton Review. Stinson began his career at Salomon Brothers Inc.
"As data continues to grow and its value as a strategic asset becomes even more apparent, customers are looking for better and more cost-effective ways to store, protect and manage their data," said Stinson. "Quantum has an incredibly strong portfolio of products to meet these needs, including its DXi disk backup and deduplication appliances, which offer industry-leading performance and price-performance, as well as its StorNext software that provides an unparalleled combination of high-performance file sharing and management for ‘big data’ environments. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with the Quantum sales team and channel partners to expand the reach of the company’s solutions and expertise to benefit a broader base of customers."
In conjunction with Stinson’s hiring, Quantum also announced that Bill Britts, who had previously led Quantum’s Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Service organization, will oversee the company’s Worldwide Marketing and Service functions as well as Business Development and continue to report to Gacek.
