Storage Distributor Hammer Expands Production Facility
At HQs in Basingstoke, UK
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 1, 2011 at 3:03 pmHammer plc, a European storage distributor, has expanded its production facility at its headquarters in Basingstoke, UK, in line with the increase in demand that it has seen in the past year from customers, and demand from vendors to assist with their market approach.
Hammer’s new integration centre will provide reduced cost of engineering, improved time-to-market, access to the latest technologies and expertise and resources, reduced capital investment for new product launches, and enhanced agility and flexibility.
Adding value from concept to deployment, Hammer’s new facility also allows for enhanced configuration and integration capabilities including custom-built servers, component modifications, warranty and support and design engineering support. Pre-production soak tests have also been enhanced to ensure performance metrics are monitored and the required specifications for each project are met.
The QA and test facilities can test more than 150 systems simultaneously, a tenfold increase of its previous capacity, and 40% more staff will be hired as a result of the expansion.
At the same time the distributor has increased its warehousing space, facilitating reduced lead times, extended stock holding (including high-end products traditionally not stocked by distributors), increased call-off orders and an improved proof-of-concept / demonstration suite, as well as improving its drop-ship capabilities, bonded inventory services, tracking and PODs. In addition, Hammer can provide logistics solutions, aiding resellers in managing their warehousing requirements and allowing them to maximize potential sales.
Jason Beeson, solutions director at Hammer, said: "We are continually enhancing our customer offering, and this year is no exception as we help partners in more ways than ever before. Shorter lead times and improved resources will ensure that customers reap the benefits of our new integration facility and in line with Hammer’s aim, will enable customers to maximize early profits and build ongoing lucrative business for the longer term, and will aid customers in developing bespoke, innovative solutions for vertical markets."
The expansion has also prompted a development in Hammer’s server offering.
