R1Soft Adds Hosting Control Panel Restore in CDP 3.0 ($499)
Reducing demands on resources of hosting providers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 20, 2011 at 3:08 pmDivision of BBS Technologies, R1Soft announced a major release of the company’s CDP 3.0 Enterprise and Advanced Edition.
Windows Server Backups on 2nd Hard Disk
The release, 3.10, includes hosting control panel restore, which integrates CDP 3.0 and various hosting control panels to provide control panel end-users (hosting customers) with direct access to backups and management of restores.
"The first release of CDP 3.0 took Continuous Data Protection to a new level through the addition of industrial strength disk storage and significant performance improvements," explained David Wartell, vice president of R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies. "The latest release is designed to bring CDP 3.0 to a wider user base by adding CDP capabilities for users without access to their physical servers or high-level network permissions. For shared hosting providers and customers alike, CDP 3.0 with hosting control panel restore offers enormous benefits."
How it works
Once the hosting provider has performed the initial replica and scheduled regular CDP server backups, the end-user can perform restores. Using his control panel/ftp user credentials the end-user logs in directly to the CDP 3.0 Web interface, through which he can view his site directory, download zip or tar files of his backups, and restore files from his CDP recovery points, all without assistance from his hosting provider.
The end-user’s control over his restores can play a crucial role in the event of file deletion or corruption; with the ability to self-restore, the end-user can take action immediately, without having to wait for support from the hosting provider. For the hosting provider, hosting control panel restore means fewer resources dedicated to managing restores.
CDP release 3.10
includes hosting control panel support for:
- cPanel (Linux)
- Plesk (Linux)
- Virtuozzo containers (Linux)
- cPanel or Plesk in Virtuozzo containers
A future CDP 3.0 release will add hosting control panel support for Ensim, DirectAdmin, and Interworx control panels. Also planned is the addition of a cPanel plug-in, which will provide a direct link to the CDP 3.0 Web interface from within the cPanel hosting control panel.
In addition to hosting control panel restore, the latest CDP 3.0 release also includes recovery point archiving, which allows a user to define a recovery point archiving policy to ensure that corporate and regulatory retention requirements are met.
