This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 19, 2011 at 3:14 pmDrobo announced that David Bangs, a seasoned industry sales executive with recent leadership positions at HP and LeftHand Networks, has been appointed Senior Vice President of worldwide sales.
"Drobo has enjoyed fantastic growth and we are looking to take it to the next level,"said Tom Buiocchi, CEO at Drobo. "In David, we are excited to welcome a proven leader who has continually driven world-class results."
"During David’s days at LeftHand and then later with HP, I worked with him to help build an overwhelmingly successful mid-market storage practice during my days as CTO at a national storage integrator," said George Crump, chief steward of Storage Switzerland. "His joining Drobo from HP is a strong endorsement for the company’s channel and sales potential, and I look forward to this new collaboration."
David joins Drobo from HP where he led the HP StorageWorks sales organization, focused on the emerging growth accounts in the mid-market. David was previously the VP of worldwide sales at LeftHand Networks, in the ISCSI SAN market, where he built and led the sales organization from initial beta shipments through to more than 5,000 customer wins and the company’s ultimate acquisition by HP in November 2008. Prior to LeftHand Networks, David served in sales leadership roles at Quantum, Control Data, and Toshiba.
"I am extremely excited to be joining one of the most innovative and fastest growing ‘new age’ storage companies," said Bangs. "Drobo is striking a chord with the underserved SMB market by providing storage products that marry technical sophistication with ease of use. I’m excited to join a company at this stage in its growth and one that is primed for great things."
