Anobit Produces MSP2020 Flash Memory Controller
In cooperation with Hynix
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 18, 2011 at 3:04 pmAnobit Technologies Ltd has commenced high volume production of its MSP2020 NAND flash memory controller with providers of mobile computing devices, in cooperation with Hynix Semiconductor Inc.
Powered by Anobit’s MSP (Memory Signal Processing) technology, the MSP2020 controller enables the use of commercial-grade two-bits-per-cell and three-bits-per-cell NAND flash across all of the latest process nodes, within the most endurance- and performance-intensive embedded computing applications.
"The partnership with Anobit provides our customers with high-performance, high-endurance flash products at the most advanced process nodes, for the most demanding mobile computing applications, and with competitive time-to-market," said J.S. Yang, VP of Engineering, Hynix. "The MSP2020 flash controller has been qualified for production with Hynix 2xnm MLC NAND by one of our key customers."
"NAND flash memory is a core enabling technology for the emerging market of mobile computing devices, and the need for our MSP technology increases with each geometry shrink," said Dror Salee, Anobit’s VP of Marketing. "The MSP2020 controller bridges the gap between application needs and the physical limitations of NAND flash, enabling high-endurance, high-performance yet cost effective mobile computing devices."
"In the span of just five years, the endurance of mainstream NAND flash has plummeted from 100,000 program/erase cycles to approximately 3,000 cycles, and the industry push toward three-bit-per-cell MLC NAND will place further downward pressure on NAND endurance. In parallel, mobile computing devices will continue to fuel demand for higher NAND endurance and performance," said Gregory Wong, founder and principal analyst, Forward Insights. "Anobit’s innovative MSP technology is well positioned to close the NAND endurance gap, and in so doing, help fuel the proliferation of NAND flash memory into a variety of consumer electronics and computing markets."
MSP2020 controllers support up to two ONFI-compliant NAND interfaces to a host processor, and can support product configurations from 4GBs to 128GBs.
