SolarWinds Adds Monitoring Support for EMC CLARiiON
Free tool for storage administrators
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 17, 2011 at 3:03 pmSolarWinds Inc. announced its second SAN Monitor free tool designed for storage administrators, SAN Monitor for EMC CLARiiON. It joins SAN Monitor for Dell, IBM, and Sun StorageTek to monitor storage arrays.
SAN Monitor for EMC CLARiiON delivers users the visibility to help prevent application and server performance issues by identifying performance bottlenecks with disk I/O and latency. With SAN Monitor for EMC CLARiiON, IT professionals can monitor storage array performance and drill down into Logical Unit Number (LUN) inventory details using a desktop dashboard and track storage asset information.
"Current storage resource management tools are cumbersome, requiring many drill-down steps. With our latest SAN Monitor free tool, we’re providing users of EMC CLARiiON, one of the largest storage vendors worldwide, with an easy-to-deploy and easy-to-use solution to give them real-time status and performance information about their arrays," said Josh Stephens, SolarWinds’ head geek and VP of technology.
SAN Monitor for EMC CLARiiON highlights:
- Monitor EMC CLARiiON storage arrays
- Gain at-a-glance insight into storage performance and capacity with a desktop dashboard
- Drill down into LUN inventory details, including LUN size, physical disks, RAID type, total IOPs, I/O response time and more
- Track storage asset information, including array name, model, manufacturer, serial number, firmware version, number of controllers, number of disks (allocated and spare), and total raw capacity
For a view into the health and capacity of all storage arrays, users can trial SolarWinds Profiler. With end-to-end mapping of physical and virtual infrastructure, Profiler enables users to pinpoint the root cause of shared storage issues.
SolarWinds Profiler highlights:
- Maps VM performance to physical storage (VM-to-Spindle) in order to maximize performance and efficiency for the virtual environment
- Pinpoints storage bottlenecks, hotpots, and storage I/O contention across the entire multi-vendor storage stack
- Delivers agentless DAS, NAS and SAN monitoring and generates policy-based alerts on status and usage thresholds
- Automates the collection and presentation of storage forecasting data and tracks performance over time to identify hot spots, peak hours and potential outages
- Delivers at-a-glance insight into the health and usage of storage arrays from iSCSI to Fibre Channel, including EMC, NetApp, Dell, Hitachi HDS, IBM and Sun systems plus Fibre Channel switches, including Brocade, Cisco, and QLogic
Pricing and Availability
SolarWinds SAN Monitor for EMC CLARiiON is free and available on the SolarWinds website. Pricing for SolarWinds Profiler starts at $2,995.
