Amax Private Cloud Appliance Platform for SMEs Under $65,000
Packaged, integrated hardware and software solution
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 13, 2011 at 3:31 pmAMAX Information Technologies, Inc. announced the CloudMax private cloud appliance platform. CloudMax was developed for small to medium size enterprises (SMEs) seeking a pre-packaged, pre-integrated total hardware and software solution delivering out-of-the-box cloud services to improve IT responsiveness and increase utilization with fewer resources.
CloudMax combines cloud management automation, unified threat management and platform engineering into a ready-to-deploy solution starting under $65k, propelling companies to move seamlessly into the cloud for an immediate reduction in IT complexity, necessary manpower and overall operational costs.
The CloudMax x86-based private cloud appliance is a platform that integrates hardware, storage, networking, virtualization, and dynamic management solutions to create a private cloud environment. The CloudMax was designed specifically for SMEs and their diverse computing infrastructure requirements across virtual and physical machines, supporting various hypervisors and operating systems from a single end-to-end management platform. This allows enterprises with limited IT support to leverage the benefits of private cloud computing without the added complexity or costs. Compared with SMEs manually configuring a similar system, AMAX’s engineering expertise ensures system compatibility, reducing time and eliminating the risk in selecting independent hardware and software components. This decreases IT hours in integrating systems, provisioning and maintenance so a company can focus on staying agile and doing what it does best.
At the core of the new private cloud offering is AMAX’s next-generation automated cloud management suite, which accelerates and simplifies cloud computing deployments and offers integration, flexibility, and resource optimization, providing an enhanced self-service, request-driven user experience. The cloud management suite features resource reservation and allocation to ensure the right resources are allocated to the right application at the right time. By leveraging complementary application usage patterns to increase and optimize overall resource utilization, capital costs can be reduced by 75 percent and operating costs by 25 percent, with resource utilization increased to 50-60 percent. Service levels are also improved since resources can be dynamically added to higher-priority applications when needed, further reducing IT expenditures.
Guarding the private cloud gateway is AMAX’s unified threat management solution, which is embedded into the appliance infrastructure to enforce security on three levels: intrusion prevention, application control, and SSL VPN, for real-time protection without compromising cloud performance.
"This is truly the year of the Cloud, and the AMAX CloudMax appliance platform redefines the foundation of private cloud computing by eliminating the associated complexity and excessive costs with traditional private cloud deployments," said Jean Shih, President at AMAX. "CloudMax is designed to be a complete working cloud platform right out of the box that’s easy to manage, allowing enterprises to focus on delivering their core business value rather than on building IT infrastructures."
The new AMAX CloudMax is a combination of automated management, network security and solid platform to transition SMEs from an internal IT infrastructure to a more productive and efficient private cloud infrastructure that is automated and supports multi-tier applications. With further security and flexible scaling options available as well as a range of Professional Services to assist customers in cloud planning and deployment, CloudMax is an out-of-the-box cloud solution presenting value to businesses ready to cut IT costs and maximize their resources.
