Xiotech Powers Caronet

Xiotech Corporation announced that Caronet is leveraging its ISE storage blades to introduce a new Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) product, Carocloud. This enables Caronet to capitalize on cloud computing for both technological and competitive business advantage.

Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, Caronet operates four data centers – some of the largest in the Southeastern United States. Serving organizations of all sizes, the company sought to expand their service offerings. From its managed services, co-location and hosting heritage, Caronet now offers customers Carocloud – enterprise cloud services, to optimize flexibility and competitiveness in a challenging economic climate.

To drive this transformation, Caronet selected Xiotech’s ISE storage blades. A building block for cloud storage, ISE delivered the scalability, performance and reliability Caronet demanded. Notably, ISE’s 100 percent usable capacity, efficiencies in power and cooling, small physical footprint, and reliability combined to offer reductions in both capital and operational expenses.

Unlike legacy storage systems, with fundamental design limitations that severely impacted Caronet’s ability to scale, the ISE architecture allowed for the creation of a decentralized SAN. This enables Caronet to deliver enterprise-class SLAs to its cloud customers. Additionally, since ISE is optimized for virtualized environments, Xiotech was a fit as the storage foundation for Carocloud.
