Next-Generation of Exar De-Dupe, Compression and Encryption for Primary Storage

Exar Corporation announced the next-generation of Exar’s BitWackr solution for Windows and Linux, offering multiple volume support, a 50% increase in I/O performance for primary storage applications and integration with the RSA key manager enabling Enterprise-level, secure storage applications.  

BitWackr 2.2 provides OEMs with a solution that is capable of reducing data through deduplication and lossless compression across all storage tiers, enabling efficiencies in data management, capacity, power and time.

Exar’s patent-pending Virtual Block Device (VBD) technology allows BitWackr to remain transparent to applications, operating systems, file systems and volume managers, enabling OEMs to quickly and easily incorporate BitWackr into their storage products.  An advantage of Exar’s BitWackr 2.2 is the use of PCIe hardware acceleration technologies, which provides the in-line performance required for Tier-0 and Tier-1 storage deployments.
