R1Soft Debuts CDP 3.0 Advanced Edition ($499)
Backup software designed specifically for resellers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 18, 2011 at 3:41 pmR1Soft announced CDP 3.0 Advanced Edition, its latest Continuous Data Protection (CDP) product for Windows, Linux, and virtual machines.
Designed specifically with resellers in mind, CDP 3.0 Advanced Edition creates revenue opportunities for self-managed hosting providers that are ready to add new backup and disaster recovery offerings. Advanced Edition’s feature set – right down to automate install – enables hosting providers to bring CDP data protection to the largest number of customers possible. At the same time, providers benefit from the product’s flexible subscription pricing.
Using CDP 3.0 Advanced Edition, hosting providers can expect to save time and resources. Product architecture eliminates the need for additional CDP servers and the resources needed to run them. Instead, the CDP backup software is deployed on a single physical or virtual server. Users can schedule their own backups and restores and, for additional convenience, data backups can be stored or archived on a second hard disk or network-attached storage (CIFS/NFS).
"As self-managed hosting providers see a rise in customer demand for backup and disaster recovery services, adoption of a solid, affordable backup solution that’s easy to use will be necessary to stay competitive," said David Wartell, vice president of R1Soft, a division of BBS Technologies, Inc. "R1Soft CDP 3.0 Advanced Edition not only helps providers improve the quality and effectiveness of existing services, but also allows them to generate additional revenue streams from new offerings."
As disk-to-disk backup software, CDP works by protecting data at the block level, bypassing the file-system to achieve superior performance levels. The software uses R1Soft’s asynchronous replication technology to create virtual full backups. After generating an initial replica of the data, CDP tracks only new changes and periodically copies them into new recovery points. Any single recovery point represents a virtual full backup and can be used both in individual file restores and Bare-Metal system restores.
Built on R1Soft’s re-engineered CDP 3.0 product architecture, Advanced Edition also offers users the newest CDP 3.0 features including a portable Disk Safe, advanced archiving rules, file exclude functionality, and a new Web interface.
