NovaBACKUP xSP and Remote Workforce
More efficient backups, options for replication and for public and private cloud's local restores
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 4, 2011 at 3:29 pmNovaStor announced version 12.1 of its cloud backup software applications, NovaBACKUP xSP and NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce.
Highlights of the new release include FastBIT 3, which improves backup speed while reducing local cache sizes by more than 90%; built-in replication technology for continuous real-time replication of data to one or more targets, and a new option to quickly perform local restores.
Offline disaster recovery
for system losses and large data volumes
In the event of a system crash or the loss of a large amount of data, performing a restore over a WAN is often impractical. NovaBACKUP xSP and NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce 12.1 will provide a new option for the service provider to dump data from the storage server and provide a storage device with all data required for the restore on a given machine to the service customer. This can reduce downtime due to data loss and mitigates the risk of relying on an Internet connection to ensure data availability.
Replication
A new replication option in NovaBACKUP xSP and NovaBACKP Remote Workforce provides continuous, real-time, host-based, block-level replication of data to one or more targets. This allows enterprises and managed service providers to improve data availability by ensuring that a copy of all backups is stored in a location other than the main storage server. The technology is optimized for WAN replication and block based to ensure that regardless of the data type, replication is fast and efficient.
FastBIT 3 increases the speed
Also new in version 12.1 is FastBIT 3: an improved, block-level data transmission technology that improves backup speed and reduces backup windows, while also reducing the local cache space required for backups by over 90%.
Optimized Central Management Console
Version 12.0 of NovaBACKUP xSP and NovaBACKUP Remote Workforce users provided the ability to set up and administer backup and restore processes via a web based central management console. Version 12.1 features an improvement on the central management console that gives administrators more control over user rights and permissions. Each user can now be given unique rights and permissions, which increases security and reduces the risk of user error.
