Vision Solutions, Inc., launched Double-Take Availability and Double-Take RecoverNow for AIX version 3.6. The enhancements reflect the AIX product line and rebrands with the Double-Take name.

Double-Take RecoverNow for AIX (formerly known as EchoStream) is a continuous data protection solution that delivers nearly instantaneous recovery of applications and data at the push of a button. Unlike traditional backup solutions, it enables to recover data from any point in time. Double-Take Availability for AIX
Double-Take Availability for AIX (combines the products formerly known as EchoCluster and EchoStream for AIX) is a simple disaster recovery and high availability solution for IBM Power Systems running AIX. Double-Take Availability for AIX combines real-time continuous data protection with streamlined clustering to provide information availability.

New Features Available
in Double-Take Availability for AIX
Vision Solutions is announcing several significant enhancements to its robust and affordablesuite known as Double-Take Availability for AIX. The new release provides several  enhancements including support for IBM AIX v7 environments, easier setup and automation of replication configuration and the ability to work seamlessly in environments using IBM’s Live Partition Mobility:

• Live partition mobility support is now supported in all Double-Take Availability for AIX products allowing services to work without disruption including movement of either the primary or secondary server (in a cluster) with no cluster failover occurring during the move. It also allows Double-Take Availability to see and manage the failover resources on the new target while the heartbeat from primary to secondary server continues throughout the move.
• Bandwidth sizing tool helps users determine the proper sizing for their rewind window and to calculate the bandwidth required for replication.
• Disk Heartbeat capability helps avoid false failovers by providing an additional alternate communication channel through which heartbeat messages are exchanged between the two nodes of the cluster using shared disk.

Highlights:

• Vision RightTime CDP provides flexible, ‘Any-Point-In-Time’ recovery and is a recovery point option. It also supports aggressive SLA goals.
• Vision TimeData improves productivity as a recovery system for R&D, testing, reporting and training. It also runs backups on replicated data and easily validates role swaps to ensure disaster recovery readiness.
• Vision IntelliStart ensures easy installation and optimised configuration with GUI-driven processes and auto discovery of storage environment.
• Vision AutoGuard provides automatic notification and self-correction with visual indicators of system health and intelligent re-sync.
