Bull Refreshed EMC Products in Portfolio

With VMAX, VNX and Data Domain devices

Bull announces the refresh of its EMC product portfolio following EMC’s January 18th 2011 announcements.

EMC has announced the introduction of the new VNXe and VNX unified storage systems, and major updates to the VMAX and Data Domain storage families.

EMC technologies are a component of Bull’s StoreWay storage integration business and the products announced are available as standard Bull catalogue products in over 50 countries throughout the EMEA region and beyond, and are fully supported by Bull’s professional services and maintenance offering.

Through EMC’s Early Access Programme, the latest VNX, VMAX and Data Domain technologies are available for demonstration and customer evaluation at Bull’s StoreWay Solution Center based in Grenoble, France.

Hardware and Software Announcement Highlights

  • The new VNXe unified storage array meet the needs of both Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) environments, and simplified implementation, support and management and an entry-level price below 8000€ provides a simple and cost-effective SMB solution SMB and remote office environments
  • The existing CLARiiON and Celerra products are consolidated into a new family of data center storage systems – the EMC VNX range. New storage processor and 6 Gbps SAS disk technologies deliver up to 3 times the performance of the existing storage systems while FAST storage tiering, compression and file deduplication significantly increase storage capacity efficiency.
  • The latest Enginuity software doubles the performance of Symmetrix VMAX storage systems without the need hardware upgrade. New FAST VP (Fully Automated Storage Tiering with Virtual Pools) features optimise performance and capacity utilization, and Federated Live Migration provides zero-downtime migration from existing Symmetrix arrays to the new VMAX systems.
  • The EMC Data Domain 600 series of deduplication storage systems – optimized for disk backup, archiving and recovery – is extended with new DD890 and DD860 high-end systems. The new Data Domain Archiver provides tiered-storage through policy-driven movement of aging data from an active tier to a highly scalable archive tier.
