PopDrive From DHK Storage

IT Administrators are fed up with the nuisance and inconvenience of their existing backup systems. Tape backup is too slow. It can take hours (or days) to run the backups and they are often unsuccessful. Single external hard drives are not reliable. Flash sticks are too slow and limited in capacity. Solid State Disks (SSDs) are too expensive.

DHK Storage, LLC has solved these problems with the introduction of a small external RAID solution. The PopDrive is a one pound, manageable, tool-less, dual-hard drive backup solution. The device contains two 2.5" SATA hard drives. On your computer it appears as one device.

It has two interfaces on the back of the unit, eSATA (3Gb/s) and USB 2.0 (480Mb/s). Because the PopDrive provides an external RAID 1 solution, IT admins don’t need to worry about the failure of any single hard drive. The management software included with the package can send e-mail alerts on any number of events including: hard drive failure, drive insertion, drive removal, device temperature, and more.

Software included with the PopDrive is compatible with Windows XP, Vista, 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, 64-bit versions of all Windows operating systems, Macintosh, and Linux.

The PopDrive is able to accept a 2.5" hard drive of any data capacity and will work with about any software package.

DHK Storage is selling the PopDrive in two packages: one with two 500Gb hard drives for $250 (MSRP) and one with two 750Gb hard drives for $350 (MSRP). The PopDrive will be demonstrated at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 6 – 9, 2001.
