Datalink Helps Planview

Datalink announced that Planview selected Datalink to redesign its data storage and protection environments.

Provider of enterprise-wide portfolio management solutions, Planview views information technology (IT) as a key facet of its go-to-market strategy. As such, when the Planview strategy evolved to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, bolstering its data center infrastructure to support the requirements of an on-demand, hosted computing environment became a top priority.

After assessing the business requirements of Planview, Datalink worked with the IT organization to align its infrastructure with the company’s go-to-market strategy. Datalink recommended a redesign of both the storage and data protection infrastructures. Datalink recommended that Planview deploy a NetApp-based, virtual storage solution using the network file system (NFS)-based protocol. This Ethernet-based infrastructure enabled Planview to reduce costs without sacrificing performance. And, by leveraging this, along with data deduplication and thin provisioning capabilities, Planview required 63% less storage capacity.

Flexibility and scalability have also been advanced. "We are seeing high customer satisfaction rates from faster provisioning of environments and more stable and rapid deployment of internal services," commented Jerry Sanchez, Director of Information Technology, Planview. "In addition, our new delivery model allows us to exceed our SLAs, so that our customers can confidently pursue their goals as Planview accelerates its growth."

Datalink also enhanced the data protection capabilities of Planview with the deployment of disk-based backup and recovery infrastructures. Leveraging disk-based versus tape-based technologies provides Planview with the ability to recover file systems or entire databases in seconds.
