CSSI Distributes STEC
In Africa
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 5, 2010 at 3:01 pmComputer Storage Services (CSSI) thas signed an agreement with STEC, Inc. for the distribution of its ZeusIOPS and MACH family of SSD products on the African continent.
As South Africa’s niche storage distributor and having several years of experience in the distribution of SSDs, this distribution agreement expands CSSI’s portfolio of products to take advantage of the transition that is taking place from hard drives to SSDs and to provide high performance SSDs to enterprise and OEMs that require performance from their storage appliances.
Leveraging the performance enhancements of STEC product offering and the technical support of CSSI, the companies will utilize its combined strengths to promote and educate the market on the benefits of solid state drives. CSSI distribution of STEC product offering will cover the whole of Africa.
SSDs are gaining momentum in Africa due to performance enhancements, no moving parts mitigating the risk of mechanical failure, and the energy and power savings over HDDs. STEC SSDs also have an advantage as there is minimal heat generated as compared to hard drives that have rotational spindles and this will significantly reduce the heat generation in Data Centres and Storage Appliances. STEC’s family of solid state drives offer sustained random performance of up to 80,000IOPS and transfer speeds of up to 350MB/s. STEC products have demonstrated how SSD performance can deliver on demanding IOPS throughput and R/W speeds that are demanded by enterprise and large organisations in many market segments that have data intensive applications and require high IOPS and access.
