Record of 68 Boothes at SNW Europe Starting Tomorrow
55% of users say 2011 storage budgets to remain the same or increase, according to the organizers
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 25, 2010 at 3:18 pmTomorrow morning SNW Europe, Virtualization World and Datacenter Technologies will kick off a conference programme packed with 130 sessions given by industry analysts, end users, sponsoring vendors and members of SNIA and SNIA Europe.
Despite the uncertain identity and success of other IT events, Angel Business Communications, the organisers behind the three Frankfurt conferences, have increased the size and scope of what was initially an appointment focussed on the data storage industry to incorporate technologies including cloud computing, virtualisation and networking.

The sponsors are looking forward
to another successful event:
“At Virtualization World we will be showcasing our complete portfolio of security solutions, developed specifically for virtualised environments. According to analyst reports and based on what end users are telling us, virtualisation technologies are now widely adopted in the datacentre and this acceptance is fuelling the demand for specific security parameters. We are looking forward to demonstrating our full range of industry-leading products in Frankfurt,” explained Frank Schwittay Managing Director CEUR at Trend Micro.
“As the leader in SAN and virtual infrastructure optimisation solutions, Virtual Instruments is exhibiting at SNW Europe to reach the key SAN and storage leaders in IT organisations that are running mission-critical applications on Fibre Channel SANs. Our goal is to increase the awareness of Virtual Instruments and our VirtualWisdom monitoring and analysis solution across Europe so that organisations can realise there is a dramatically better way to improve SAN infrastructure performance, availability and utilisation,” commented Len Rosenthal, VP of Marketing at Virtual Instruments, a new sponsor.
“SNW Europe is always an exciting event where the storage industry comes together to share and discuss best practices. The amazing talent and expertise present at the event combined with our outstanding results from last year, convinced us to come back again in 2010 and we are looking forward to another fantastic engagement with all attendees,” said Robert Mol, Director Product Marketing EMEA at Symantec.
“Asigra is pleased to be a sponsor of SNW Europe as it gives us an opportunity to meet face to face with partners and customers throughout Europe who are interested in cloud backup solutions. The Hands-on Lab helps us demonstrate our technology in an interactive environment and lets our visitors experience Asigra Cloud Backup firsthand,” added Amrita Chandra, Senior Director, Corporate Marketing, Asigra.
The organisers also unveiled some findings from a survey of European end users carried out earlier on this month to understand what the most main issues, priorities and trends in the industry are:
Budgets:
- 55% of surveyed end users say that 2011 storage budgets will remain the same or increase; only 15% believe they will decrease
Top issues and priorities:
- Management complexity remains the biggest headache in the datacentre for 53% of respondents
- The main datacentre projects and investments in the next 12 months are storage and data management and server virtualisation, followed by infrastructure consolidation and storage virtualisatio
All of these issues were rated
as either ‘quite important’ or ‘very important’:
- Limiting storage acquisition costs (purchase of hardware, software, cloud, etc.)
- Limiting storage maintenance costs (service contracts, upgrades, etc.)
- Limiting storage administration costs (staff, training, etc.)
- Making the storage strategy compliant to company and other rules and legislation
Cloud:
- 45% of respondents say security is still the main obstacle to adoption
- 79% are not considering moving their storage infrastructure to the cloud yet; however 2% already have and 11% are planning the move for next year
Virtualisation:
- At least 40% of production servers will be virtualised by the end of 2010 for 71% of end users
- 22% of respondent will have 40% or more of their desktops virtualised by the end of 2010
- 39% will have at least 40% of their production storage environment virtualised by the end of 2010
"Our survey shows that there are significant changes taking place in the datacentre at the moment, changes that stem and affect businesses financially and operationally. SNW Europe, Datacenter Technologies and Virtualization World will provide a highly effective environment for end users to learn about the strategies and technologies they can rely on to ensure their IT infrastructures can successfully support their organisations," said Paul Trowbridge, marketing director for the three events promoted under the banner ‘The Power of 3’.
