USB 3.0/2.0 Protocol Analyzer From SerialTek
The USB BusXpert
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 27, 2010 at 3:12 pmSerialTek, LLC introduces the USB BusXpert protocol analyzer, built on the same protocol analysis software platform as SerialTek’s SAS/SATA BusXpert. The USB BusXpert is designed for USB3.0 Superspeed and USB2.0 protocol analysis. Software and hardware innovations, such as quick search, pre-capture indexing and fast upload enable development of USB products. The USB BusXpert can be used in conjunction with the SAS/SATA BusXpert for command and transaction correlation between the two protocol buses.
SerialTek’s USB BusXpert software features triggering with up to 4 separate simultaneous sequencers, logical branching and counters, and definition of tokens, frames, transactions, etc. Hardware filtering is also available to make efficient use of the USB BusXpert’s configurable buffer, with sizes from 2GB to an industry leading 18GB. The USB BusXpert software also offers a variety of ways to display the captured traffic, from viewing an entire transfer and its associated packets in Transaction view, viewing a transfer as it looks in the USB specification, to viewing the handshaking in Protocol view. Manipulating the trace via searching, hide/show, bookmarking, and by decode is available with few clicks.
"By leveraging our background in storage protocols, namely SAS and SATA," said Dale Smith, President of SerialTek. "We are able to create a powerful USB analysis tool with advanced support for the storage aspects of the new USB3 standard, such as UAS (USB Attached SCSI). Developers will be surprised to find such a mature product from a company just entering the USB test space."
The USB BusXpert comes in a portable platform based on the SAS/SATA BusXpert Micro and is available with different options to suit performance and budgetary needs. It runs on most of the newer variants of Microsoft Windows (XP and up) for both 32 and 64 bit applications. It also is available for Linux versions such as Fedora, RedHat/CentOS, Ubuntu and SUSE. There is an API available for the mentioned OSes.
The USB BusXpert is now shipping.
