DCI Banks on NetApp With VAR ISG Technology
To improve service for its clients relying on it for cloud-based banking services
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 20, 2010 at 3:27 pmData Center, Inc. (DCI), has implemented a VMware solution built on NetApp, Inc. storage to improve service and reliability for its clients that rely on it for cloud-based banking services. In the process, DCI has also gained the flexibility to anticipate and respond to rapidly changing needs and has been able to simplify management and reduce its data center footprint and management overhead costs.
DCI provides banking solutions for the financial industry, including bank processing and management systems, Internet banking, teller automation, ATM/card services network, and backroom services. For DCI’s bank customers, continuous service is a must, and data needs to be available immediately in order for them to best serve their own customers. To remain competitive, both DCI and its clients need the most efficient, dynamic, and reliable IT-as-a-service capabilities. To maintain this competitive edge, DCI contacted ISG Technology, Inc.www.isgtech.com, provider of virtualization and storage solutions and a NetApp value-added reseller, to help consolidate its servers and make its data centers more flexible and efficient.
ISG Technology, Inc., helped DCI implement a VMware server virtualization solution with over 200TB of NetApp storage.
DCI is now able to do much more with much less, managing all 200TB+ of data with one full-time employee and has been able to retire 85 physical servers and reduce storage needs by 50%.
By significantly reducing the number of servers and spinning hard drives in its data centers, DCI is on track to save 70%, or $125,000, in annual power and cooling costs, and to have a 75% reduction in data center real estate.
Solution Detail
- The flexible, shared IT infrastructure built on NetApp storage supports DCI’s private-cloud-based iCore360 bank management software.
- iCore360 helps banks provide better service to their customers by being able to quickly deploy new features and services without requiring additional investments in time, money, or technical staff.
- To expand its automated backup, recovery and disaster recovery capabilities for its own systems and customers, DCI deployed SnapManager for Virtual Infrastructure, which automates replication and recovery services.
Robert Ross, chief security officer and senior vice president of Network and Technical Services, DCI, said:" The NetApp-VMware solution has really pushed our business to the next level. We’ve streamlined our operations and realized some remarkable cost savings. We also have a strong competitive edge in providing banks what they need most: continuous service, reliability, and minimal risk."
Patrick Rogers, vice president of Solutions and Alliances, NetApp, said:" DCI is a wonderful example of how companies can take advantage of NetApp’s virtualization and storage efficiency solutions to get as much utilization as possible from their IT and provide better services for their customers. By leveraging our partner community, DCI was able to build the flexible and efficient shared IT infrastructure required to provide the cloud services their customers need today and the foundation to provide services that their customers will need in the future."
