Made by Fast LTA
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 24, 2010 at 3:15 pmPoINT Software & Systems GmbH has expanded the list of storage systems supported within the Multi Tier Storage Architecture of its PoINT Storage Manager by certifying the Silent Cubes hard disk based archive storage made by FAST LTA.
Silent Cube
The Silent Cubes storage hardware is supported as a Tier 3 (Archive Tier) device in the Multi Tier Storage Architecture of PoINT Storage Manager. When configured as an Archive Tier device, PoINT utilizes the comprehensive retention management and WORM functionality features of the Silent Cubes to offer customers an ideal solution for fulfilment of compliance regulations.
PoINT Storage Manager can be integrated seamlessly into an existing storage infrastructure. Using Policy Based Schedules, users can configure the software to identify data stored on their primary storage systems which is ready for archiving and migrates selected data automatically and transparently to the Silent Cubes. The PoINT TAFS for Windows NTFS based systems or the PoINT NetApp FAS Agent replaces migrated data links so the files remain directly accessible through their original source location fulfilling ‘Single Path Access’ requirements.
PoINT Storage Manager is moreover able to migrate obsolete archive storage systems seamlessly to a Silent Cubes system by using the integrated PoINT Virtual File Systems (PoINT VFS).
Bart-Jan Schuman, Senior Pre-Sales Engineer at FAST LTA, appreciates the cooperation with PoINT: "We are very glad, that – with PoINT – we have found a competent partner with many experience in the field of storage management. PoINT is one of the most important specialists in the storage field. This has been shown right from the beginning in our professional collaboration, from which customers can only benefit."
Thomas Thalmann, Manager Operations at PoINT Software & Systems GmbH, is also expecting new possibilities by integrating FAST LTA products: "Users can work with an extremely lucrative and effective alternative to tape or optical based systems for long-term archiving offering the advantages of hard disk systems while simultaneously fulfilling all requirements of compliant archiving."
