BridgeHead Signs Agreement With SunGard Availability Services
To offer Secure2Disk Backup and Recovery Solution powered by Data Domain
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 15, 2010 at 3:17 pmBridgeHead Software announced an agreement with SunGard Availability Services to offer Secure2Disk Backup and Recovery Solution powered by EMC Data Domain to healthcare providers in North America.
Made public at the Medical Users Software Exchange (MUSE) International Conference, this alliance enables customers using the BridgeHead HSV platform to leverage the power and experience of SunGard Availability Services, a trusted business continuity provider to more than 70% of Fortune 500 companies.
The collaboration has arisen out of healthcare’s increasing reliance upon electronic health records and advanced digital imaging systems, driven by forces such as the US HITECH Act and Canada Health Infoway. This movement has in turn spurred the need for reliable and cost-effective disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
BridgeHead’s healthcare data management solutions provide backup, recovery and archive capabilities for critical enterprise and clinical data. Its HSV platform helps ensure healthcare data is retained cost-effectively on the optimal mix of storage assets available to the organization. By exploiting the power and efficiency of Data Domain de-duplication storage, as well as the reliability and security of SunGard data centers, healthcare providers benefit from a robust solution managed by experts in both disaster recovery and healthcare.
“For more than a decade, BridgeHead Software has offered advanced data protection and disaster recovery solutions to healthcare providers in North America,” says Tony Cotterill, CEO of BridgeHead Software. “While advanced disk backup and off-site recovery is a reality for a large number of our customers, it has been but a goal for many more at a time when healthcare IT budgets are stretched to the limit. We are excited that ourpartnership with SunGard Availability Services will help make this level of data protection accessible to a wider range of healthcare providers.”
“We are pleased that BridgeHead Software has chosen to extend its HSV Platform by utilizing our Secure2Disk Backup and Recovery Solution powered by Data Domain,” notes Larry Coble, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Recovery Services for SunGard Availability Services. “As healthcare providers increasingly come to rely upon emerging health information technologies, the need for effective disaster recovery and business continuity strategies has never been greater.”
Cotterill adds that many BridgeHead Software customers have chosen to partner with SunGard for tape-based disaster recovery over the years. “More recently, our customers have increasingly selected Data Domain de-duplication storage as an essential element of their off-site recovery strategy. To now combine that with the experience and reliability of SunGard is an obvious win-win for everyone involved.”
