LiveVault 7.0 From Iron Mountain
Increased scalability to protect large servers and built-in de-dupe
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 9, 2010 at 2:23 pmIron Mountain Incorporated announced the availability of LiveVault 7.0, a solution designed to meet the application and server backup needs of mid-sized companies. Iron Mountain’s cloud-based data protection solution comes with increased scalability to protect large servers and environments and built-in data deduplication technology.
The LiveVault solution is a fully managed, cloud-based data protection solution with proactive administration and monitoring. Iron Mountain manages not only the storage and protection of the information, but also the data protection processes, removing the burden of backup tasks from IT administrators so that they can focus on business-critical projects.
The latest version of LiveVault allows customers to protect seven terabytes of data per server and restore data fast through the TurboRestore onsite appliance. LiveVault 7.0 also includes enhanced vulnerability management and threat detection programs to safeguard customer information.
“In California, earthquakes are a part of life, so we need to ensure our data is protected and available should a catastrophic event occur,” said Mark Heryer, IT manager, Pipeline Systems, Inc., in pipeline engineering services. “LiveVault is an incredible data protection offering compared to traditional tape and in-house data deduplication. No other cloud-based backup solution in the market comes close. The solution is one of the best ideas I have seen for the cloud and I have peace of mind knowing my data is safe and protected with Iron Mountain.”
“The enhancements made in Iron Mountain’s LiveVault 7.0 help IT organizations in mid-sized businesses address the information management challenges resulting from relentless data growth and greater dependence on digital content,” said Lauren Whitehouse, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “Iron Mountain embodies robustness as a cloud data protection provider and offers businesses a full spectrum of information management solutions.”
For the initial deployment of the solution, customers can use a LiveVault data shuttle service to transfer multi-terabytes of data quickly and securely to Iron Mountain’s underground data centers. In the event of disaster recovery or large data restores, the service allows customers to restore server data at Iron Mountain’s data center and have it shipped to them potentially before their electricity or Internet services are even available.
“We’ve seen a growing interest among mid-sized companies to use the cloud for protecting data. Our LiveVault solution accommodates their needs through a managed service without the headaches of traditional backup architecture,” said T.M. Ravi, chief marketing officer, Iron Mountain Digital. “Customers can protect their servers in a heterogeneous environment with built-in data deduplication. They can also reduce the risks and costs associated with their information, while optimizing the value of their information by leveraging Iron Mountain’s solutions for archiving and eDiscovery.”
