NetBenefit Launched Bare Metal Restore

DR service for website owners based on EVault

Bare Metal Restore, available now, can accelerate recovery of mission critical sites, reducing the cost of expensive downtime, and will appeal to any firm that runs a critical website, or online application.

With Forrester reporting that downtime can cost firms anywhere between £10,000 and £1 million per hour, time and money sensitive IT departments will be looking for ways to make disaster recovery faster, simpler, and importantly, accurate.

Bare Metal Restore managed service from NetBenefit Limited will save companies, from enterprises to small businesses, money and take away many of the technical headaches associated with reconfiguring servers.

"If an operating system corrupts, it used to take a very long time to rebuild the server with all of the appropriate operation system and application settings," said Michael Hassan, product manager at NetBenefit. "Bare Metal Recovery is a short, two step process that restores all server configurations providing a clean server environment to restore data back into."

"Consider a crisis scenario," adds Hassan. "When a system fails, employees and the senior management team expect it to be back up and running again as soon as possible. It is not acceptable for a business critical system such as a case management tool in a legal practice to be inaccessible for 24 or even 36 hours whilst servers are rebuilt."

Bare Metal Restore can recreate a firm’s server environment in less than an hour, allowing the customer to restore their backed up data quickly and easily. Importantly for time-pressured administrators, there is no need to reinstall the operating system, apply patches, reinstall drivers or applications, or configure a separate restore to recover data.

Bare Metal Restore is a managed service from NetBenefit and complements its existing online data backup service. Based on the EVault products offered by i365 Inc., a Seagate company, Bare Metal Restore quickly provides a replicated server environment, with all operating system and application settings in place, allowing the customer to restore to the new server quickly and easily.

This new service from NetBenefit also allows customers to migrate their server settings onto a new server, eliminating the need for downtime during a server upgrade.

I365’s Vice President of Worldwide Alliances, William da Cunha, says: "NetBenefit required an integrated solution that simply worked and would speed up the recovery time for critical customer servers. Our integrated approach to backup, recovery and bare metal restore was compelling; and an intuitive wizard driven workflow removed the guess work from the bare metal recovery process. With virtualisation becoming common place with Managed Hosting Providers, the i365 Bare Metal solution simplified and improved the process and speed of moving servers from physical to virtual and vice versa."

NetBenefit is a managed hosting provider whose clients include The National Archives, The New Statesman, Polar, The Hospital Club and Kiddicare. NetBenefit is part of London listed Group NBT, which has over 290 employees worldwide with offices in London, Copenhagen, New York, Nice, Munich, Zurich, and Oslo. Other Group NBT brands include NetNames, Easily.co.uk, Speednames, Ascio and Envisional.
