Flash Cache is Back
SSD Performance at an HDD Price
This white paper details past efforts to add an inexpensive NAND cache layer to the PC, and discusses new cache management software – Denali’s Dataplex – that might very well be the embodiment that finally attains market success. Objective Analysis strongly believes that soon all computing platforms will employ a cache layer between the HDD and the DRAM. A NAND cache, when properly implemented, will provide near-SSD performance at near-HDD prices. Early implementations have suffered from insufficient software support.
