Openwave Email Mx Stateless Edition

Focused on helping operators address ... "Storage Tsunami"

Openwave Systems Inc. announced the last version of Openwave Email Mx.

Openwave Email Mx Stateless Edition is an extensible, carrier-scale e-mail platform that enables usage of low-cost storage hardware for message store. The platform is economically infinitely scalable, highly reliable and is built upon distributed database and distributed storage technologies. This latest version of Email Mx can also be expanded to provide general-purpose, low-cost storage for other applications beyond email, offering a comprehensive low TCO platform for messaging products. Openwave Email Mx Stateless Edition pre-integrated server components are compatible with other products from Openwave’s Messaging suite including Rich Mail.

"Today’s email users expect a much richer experience that is also much more storage intensive," said Quoc Hoang, industry analyst, Radicati Group. "As a result, service providers must support all the content being shared and stored or risk losing subscribers. Reliable email solutions that offer a low-cost storage and are highly scalable will help operators stay competitive."

"Email is still one of the most popular internet applications and since the 2004 introduction of email offerings with nearly limitless storage, consumers’ expectations about email have changed," said Chris Moore, director of product management, messaging applications, Openwave. "Email Mx Stateless Edition enables service providers to offer mail boxes with limitless storage capacity at a significantly lower cost than allowed by currently available solutions. The improved reliability and ability to grow incrementally will help service providers build a solid messaging and media experience."

Email Mx Stateless Edition
Email Mx specifically addresses the ‘Storage Tsunami’ problem by enabling the use of low-cost storage hardware to keep spiraling storage costs under control.

New enhancements to Email Mx Stateless Storage include:

  • Enabling reduction in CAPEX through the use of commodity storage hardware and a license-free distributed database with built-in high availability and reliability features.
  • Enabling increased reliability via the Stateless Message and Content Store Architecture of Email Mx, thereby, reducing operational expenditure (OPEX) typical in a stateful architecture. The results can be up to 65% in TCO reduction.
  • Enabling growth potential through use of a stateless message store architecture that can allow for incremental growth without requiring huge upfront CAPEX investments.
  • Employing N+1 active/active scalability and failover instead of 2N active/standby, reducing the hardware required to maintain redundancy.
  • Enabling Carrier-grade reliability – Email Mx Stateless Edition can ensure that there is no single point of failure throughout the system.
