AxStor Ai-105 iSCSI System for Small Businesses
Up to 10TB, £1,695 without the five drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 20, 2010 at 3:24 pmAxStor has introduced the Ai-105, an iSCSI storage system that offers up to 10TB of data storage, enough for 14,000 CDs, 10,000,000 X-Rays or 50 years of CCTV footage. The system would be particularly suitable for organisations that have needs for rapid storage expansion – for example, for CCTV installations or for educational establishments. Other applications handled by Ai-105 include disk backup, web servers, data archiving, email servers and video editing.
While storage technology can often be a world of strange abbreviations and technology, the Ai-105 has been set up to make it simple to manage, with menu-driven wizards helping to guide non-technical administrators through the configuration process. Companies can also use the device to configure pools of virtual storage.
The Ai-105 is strong in security offering a variety of security features, including CHAP authentication, initiator ACL, SSL encryption and read-only volumes.
Within small companies, space for IT equipment can often be at a premium, measuring just 8.25” x 6.25” x 9.25”, the Ai-105 is able to fit under a desk and with four standard Ethernet ports offers easy connection to an organisation’s servers, meaning that it’s accessible to everyone within a workspace who has access to the company’s LAN.
The Ai-105 is mainly aimed at small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) Schools and Colleges, although it would be suitable for branch offices of enterprises, where there might not be dedicated technical data storage staff. It also offers value for money, keeping cost per terabyte very low.
“The growing demands on storage mean that smaller businesses have to manage many terabytes of information. The Ai-105 with its industry-standard iSCSI interface and easy-to-use capabilities provides organisations with a simple path to enterprise-class data storage at a highly competitive price,” said Alan Shepherd, Axstor’s CEO. “Its easy-to-use menu and small footprint makes it a perfect product for smaller organisations.”
The Ai-105 is available now and will cost £1,695 (without drives).
