Vision Solutions RecoverNow V51
DR software with CDP for IBM i OS
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 17, 2010 at 3:09 pmVision Solutions, Inc., a high availability and disaster recovery solutions provider in the IBM Power Systems markets, announced RecoverNow V5.1, a data protection offering for the IBM i operating system.
RecoverNow protects businesses by automatically capturing data and object changes that occur between tape saves, continuously saving them on storage devices. The recent upgrade delivers a new recovery assistant that automates and simplifies recovery operations for customers.
"RecoverNow makes protecting data fast, easy and affordable by saving information on current storage devices including those connected to Windows, Linux or UNIX environments," says Craig Johnson, vice president of research and development, Vision Solutions. "The upgraded software solution enables data and objects to be brought back to near the point of failure, or to any point in time after the last tape save, using powerful Continuous Data Protection (CDP) capabilities – dramatically reducing the amount of data a customer could potentially lose if they were only using a tape based data protection scheme."
RecoverNow protects data by leveraging and extending the capabilities of IBM i journaling. It captures data and object changes that occur between tape backups and continuously saves them to local or remote disk storage. And its extensive built-in journal management automation means that no journaling expertise is required. In the event of tape failure, the data is still protected due to RecoverNow’s ability to complete a near-point-of-failure recovery even from an earlier tape set. The new automated restore process reduces the risk of recovery problems and errors.
