"Violin’s flash memory arrays will have a dramatic impact in virtualizing today’s data centers," said Larry Lang. "I look forward to lending my global business experience to assist Don Basile and his team to reach the company’s growth potential. Violin’s flash technology offers the first true enterprise-grade silicon storage device that will enable fully optimized data center virtualization and pave the way to enterprise cloud computing in data centers around the world."

"We are pleased and honored to have Larry Lang’s expertise and guidance. He brings tremendous experience to Violin’s board with his knowledge in growing multi-billion dollar businesses, leading international operations and delivering solutions to the largest and most sophisticated customers," said Don Basile, CEO of Violin Memory. "Larry is a seasoned Silicon Valley executive and we welcome his leadership and experience that will be a valuable asset to our company’s strategic direction."

As vice president and general manager of the mobile service provider business at Cisco, Lang lead a team of several hundred engineers and business professionals to grow the mobile internet business from near-zero to several hundred million in annual bookings. Lang also turned around the Cisco service provider voice-over-IP business, bringing profitability through quality improvements, increased bookings and expense reductions. Prior to joining Cisco, Larry was vice president of product management at start-up company Ipsilon Networks, where he helped pioneer IP switching, predecessor to Mutiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). Ipsilon was acquired by Nokia.
