Netgear ReadyNAS for Business Products VMware Ready

Enabling partners to leverage the virtualization platform

NETGEAR, Inc. announced that its ReadyNAS family of business-class, unified network storage devices has achieved VMware Ready status. Both desktop and rack-mount ReadyNAS for Business products, including the recently announced ReadyNAS 3100 and ReadyNAS 4200, have all passed their rigorous VMware testing for the NFS and now the iSCSI protocols.

"Virtualization drives network storage adoption, and NETGEAR is a world leader in affordable, reliable storage solutions for businesses," said Drew Meyer, director of storage product marketing for NETGEAR’s Network Storage Business Unit. "We are thrilled to be completely VMware Ready on our business-class ReadyNAS systems. As a result, our channel partners can deliver trusted virtualization solutions for as little as $1,000."

"The VMware Ready designation signifies to customers that the products have passed detailed VMware testing, met stringent interoperability criteria, and are ready to run in production environments," said Parag Patel, vice president, alliances, VMware. "We are delighted that NETGEAR’s ReadyNAS solutions now carry the VMware Ready logo."

AppLabs is a software testing and quality management company, and also VMware’s approved testing company. "The VMware Ready logo indicates that the ReadyNAS products have gone through AppLabs’ rigorous evaluation process," said Alex Whittaker, AVP of quality assurance services at AppLabs. "Our expertise and experience in VMware certification has ensured everything met the highest standards."

Cost-effective Virtualization Solutions for Businesses
Server virtualization projects require network storage to give business customers dramatic improvements in hardware efficiency, cost savings and scalability. According to NPD Intellect, one in five business storage customers buy ReadyNAS, and a December 2009 VMware study cited cost as the leading reason IT managers have not yet virtualized their servers. The VMware Ready logo ensures that first-time adopters or current users can deploy affordable NETGEAR and VMware solutions without interoperability concerns. Reseller partners can use NETGEAR to deliver affordable unified storage solutions from the industry’s leading technology vendors.

Business-class ReadyNAS products include form factors to fit any budget or location. The desktop NVX (4-bay) and Pro (6-bay) are ideal for smaller firms or remote offices/branch offices with the tightest budget constraints or moderate availability requirements. The rack-mount ReadyNAS family includes 1U 4-bay models (the 2100 and 3100), as well as 2U 12-bay models (the 3200 and 4200). All models include a unified (NAS and iSCSI) storage architecture, secure replication, an offsite archive option, and yield highest performance and reliability metrics in their class. Pricing starts under $1,000.

ReadyNAS business products include the new ReadyNAS 3100 and 4200, which are available in late April exclusively from NETGEAR PowerShift Partners, starting with CDW. ReadyNAS systems come with full 24/7 technical support and an industry-leading five-year warranty with spare parts support and extended service options. ReadyNAS Vault is included as a 30-day trial of pre-paid and annual capacity plans. In addition, ReadyNAS products integrate seamlessly with NETGEAR’s ProSecure and ProSafe lines of security, switching and wireless networking products to provide a complete solution.

The complete ReadyNAS business product range is now on the VMware Hardware Certification List (HCL) and is compatible with the VMware vSphere platform.
