Xiotech in NAS
With Symantec FileStore
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 14, 2010 at 3:19 pmXiotech Corporation launched a NAS solution pairing Xiotech’s patented Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) blades with Symantec’s FileStore product, a file serving platform that delivers industry-leading performance and scale to enterprise storage environments. The joint solution allows cloud service providers, high-performance computing environments and data storage users to achieve cost effective and comprehensive file-based data management and protection with maximum performance and scalability.
The combined solution, called ISE NAS, delivers industry-leading functionality, performance, reliability and linear scalability on the back end at a fraction of the cost of similar solutions on the market today. The solution allows for rapid deployment and automated provisioning of file storage and clustered file systems and can scale up to 16 asymmetric or symmetric nodes while storage can scale out seamlessly and independently up to two petabytes (PB) behind a single cluster. It will be available via Xiotech channel partners in June.
"FileStore builds upon our industry leadership in clustered file systems and provides customers with a high-performance and highly scalable platform for file serving with low-cost hardware," says Yogesh Agrawal, Vice President, FileStore Group at Symantec. "Xiotech’s ISE technology is built around the same concepts around price performance. Together, FileStore and ISE deliver an extremely efficient solution that seamlessly scales from the entry level out to large HPC environments at a fraction of the cost of traditional solutions."
"In the face of relentless, unstructured data growth, IT should not have to choose between performance and capacity," said Xiotech Senior Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Brian Reagan. "FileStore’s powerful features, combined with Xiotech’s scale-out storage blades, allow our customers and partners to dramatically increase infrastructure efficiency, driving higher service levels and running their applications better. This is what Intelligent Application Storage is all about."
