IBM ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V2.4

IBM System Storage ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V2.4 from IBM Corp. adds supports for many-to-one network replication and LUN masking and improves performance for single stream processing by up to 10 percent

The IBM System Storage TS7650G ProtecTIER Deduplication Gateway solution is an enterprise-class data protection platform designed to protect business information while reducing the amount of physical disk storage space required. It is comprised of the IBM System Storage ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V2.4 software and the IBM System Storage TS7650G Deduplication Server (3958-DD3) hardware.

ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V2.4 enhancements include:

IP Replication from many sites to a single, central site
LUN masking capabilities
Performance improvements for single stream processing by up to 10 percent

ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V2.4 supports:

In-line data deduplication virtual tape library (VTL) server, powered by HyperFactor technology
In-line data deduplication performance of up to 1,000 MB/s or more (clustered node)
Clustering for higher performance and availability (optional)
IBM’s path failover technology
Replication support to allow virtual cartridges to be copied to a target ProtecTIER cluster based on defined policies (optional)
Flexible storage choices and options
Fibre Channel Ports for host and storage connectivity
Virtual tape emulation of up to 16 virtual tape libraries and up to 512 virtual tape drives per dual node cluster (up to 256 virtual tape drives on each server)
Up to 500,000 virtual cartridges
Emulation of the IBM TS3500 tape library with IBM Ultrium 3 tape drives
Emulation of the Quantum P3000 tape library with DLT or IBM Ultrium 2 tape drives
LUN masking

Key prerequisites:

IBM System Storage ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V2.4 software requires the IBM System Storage TS7650G ProtecTIER Deduplication Gateway hardware (3958 Model DD1 or DD3).
Using the ProtecTIER Enterprise Edition V2.4 IP Replication function on a TS7650G Model DD1 Server requires a second Ethernet adapter to be installed on the Model DD1.
