Rorke Data Ships 10,000th Galaxy RAID

Since 1999

Rorke first introduced the Galaxy Series as a Fibre Channel RAID solution on April 19, 1999. The products were first deployed to meet the rigors of storage intensive applications for video editing and broadcast, but have since grown into an ideal solution for customers requiring value-based, performance-driven storage solutions that include superior service and support. Galaxy products have shipped to a wide variety of customers across a wide range of industries including healthcare, video and government.

"We have been tracking this goal since we shipped our 1,000th system just four years ago," noted Rorke Data’s president, Joe Swanson. "This great accomplishment is a testament to all of the hard work and dedication to quality from everyone across the entire Rorke Data and Bell Micro organizations."

"Our success is tied to providing a quality-driven product that addresses the ongoing high growth storage needs of both Rorke Data and Bell Micro customers," continued Swanson. "Our OEM and VAR partners see the Galaxy RAID offering as an ideal way to address their customers’ budget and performance demands – in a manner that higher priced, competing storage solutions simply cannot deliver."

Rorke Data continues to build on the success of the Galaxy line by unveiling new products – including the 2009 introduction of the Galaxy Aurora RAID storage line. According to Swanson, "Aurora is the fastest growing product in the Galaxy family, primarily due to its unique ability to deliver high-performance, low-cost storage in Fibre Chanel and Infiniband storage area networks for video, post-production and high bandwidth computing applications."

The combination of the global storage buying power of Bell Micro and the technical integration and support capabilities of Rorke Data give the Galaxy product line a distinct competitive advantage. Galaxy products include RAID, NAS and storage servers purpose built using Rorke’s world class ISO 13485-2003 technical manufacturing and support center in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. According to Swanson, "Based on our past success and the future needs of our customers, we anticipate achieving the next milestone of 20,000 Galaxy units shipped in record time."
