The integration of DVS SpycerBox and Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci Resolve and DaVinci Revival significantly accelerates post production workflows. Blackmagic Design whose DaVinci Resolve systems were used for color grading and full 3D stereoscopic effects for James Cameron’s latest motion picture, Avatar, has officially certified the DVS SpycerBox. With the DVS storage solution, DaVinci Resolve and DaVinci Revival clients can manage their content in one location, share content with other applications and connect to their content from every step of the workflow in real-time at SD, HD, 2K and even 4K.

SpycerBox is DVS’s flexible and modular storage solution. It improves clients’ workflow speed and efficiency being integrated as an ultra fast and reliable storage system. Used as a NAS solution or a SAN configuration or a combination of both, SpycerBox increases the performance of file-based workflows.

DaVinci Resolve is Blackmagic Design’s digital mastering suite, featuring DaVinci’s Emmy Award-winning image enhancement expertise and a familiar interface packaged with an industry-leading tool set. DaVinci Revival is a high-end film restoration and re-mastering system with sophisticated tools to remove scratches, dirt and other undesired effects. Both DaVinci Revival and Resolve operate comfortably at 2K and benefit from the real-time performance of the SpycerBox. Connected via Fibre Channel, the SpycerBox reliably stores the high-quality footage data.

Clients working with Revival and Resolve and the SpycerBox storage extension gain significant flexibility: The SpycerBox can be used as a NAS -Network Attached Storage- by all workstations. Post production facilities benefit from both the sophisticated color systems and the high-performance storage solution, which is directly accessible by several workstations.

With its numerous connection options, SpycerBox easily integrates into existing IT infrastructures and is custom-tailored towards collaborative workflows for DI with a demand for shared storage and real-time data access.

Spycer, DVS’s integrated data management software, enables users to optimize and accelerate workflow processes. Its advanced set of data management tools includes browse and search functions, high-speed copying, and disk defragmentation. Spycer also grants complete content control, offering superior editing options and metadata support.

Grant Petty, Blackmagic Design CEO, said: "The DVS SpycerBox was connected to the DaVinci Resolve and operating perfectly within 20 minutes of unpacking. Setup was a breeze. It easily provided the bandwidth required for full 2K in real-time and allows the Resolve and Revival to operate on the same storage at the same time."

Henner Steinwede, DVS Product Manager, said: "Blackmagic Design’s DaVinci systems are well-known in the industry to deliver exceptional feature sets and performance for DI Mastering, color correction and image restoration. Considering the needed data rates lead to a combination with our high-performance storage solution. Our clients will benefit from two industry leading companies’ expertise and will deliver highest levels of bandwidth, flexibility and reliability."
