DVS SAN With 20TB Real-Time Storage at Film and Television Academy
And two 24TB SpycerBoxes
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 1, 2010 at 2:54 pmAt the Film and Television Academy (Hochschule für Film und Fernsehen Konrad Wolf or HFF) in Potsdam, a large media academy in Germany, DVS Digital Video Systems AG technology prepares students for working in the professional film and video business. Both employees and students perfect film and television projects in a professional environment.
In line with its mission, HFF has implemented a complete post production workflow which is now outfitted with DVS equipment. CLIPSTER, DVS’s flagship, acts as a digital film lab, processing RED RAW data in real-time. Sophisticated features such as rendering and DCI Mastering enable students to process high-resolution film data.
DVS-SAN, the central online storage system, guarantees four 2K real-time streams while two SpycerBoxes provide reliable NAS storage. With DVS-SAN at the core of their DI workflow, HFF benefits from central access to all film and video data as well as comprehensive data management features. Several workstations simultaneously access large amounts of data in real-time. The new infrastructure provides realistic conditions to properly prepare students for their future working environment.
Teaming up with the Bavarian company Step2e, DVS developed a project management software with corresponding interfaces to enable students and teachers intuitive operating. The tailor-made software is based on DVS’s intelligent content management system Spycer, which integrates Step2e’s superior project management workflow via a SOAP interface.
In early 2010, a second installation of DVS equipment doubled both the capacity and the real-time rate of the DVS-SAN.
Prof. Dr. sc. Dieter Wiedemann, HFF President, said: “The DVS systems help us prepare our students for their future employment. Our practical environment is an integral part of the HFF training program – it is important to us to have DVS at our side, as a knowledgeable and experienced partner who perfectly meets our requirements.”
Stefan Wagenpfeil, Managing Director at Step2e, said: “We have a longstanding experience in the radio and broadcast market. It has been a great opportunity for us to familiarize ourselves with the film industry, and we are honored to support its efforts with our project management expertise.”
Norbert Paefgen, Sales Director, Key Accounts at DVS, said: “We are delighted to provide the renowned HFF with our proven solutions. Thanks to working with powerful professional equipment in real-life situations, students will be optimally trained in processing film and television data.”
