Partnership Beween RainStor and Group 2000
To deliver data retention solutions in the telecommunications market
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 23, 2010 at 3:20 pmRainStor, an infrastructure software
company that provides the repository for historical structured data,
announced a new partnership with Group
2000 to deliver data retention solutions in the telecommunications
market. Group 2000, a company delivering Network Forensics,
Communication Services and ICT Services, will embed RainStor within its
LIMA Lawful Interception and Data Retention products.
Group 2000 helps telecommunication service operators, Internet service
providers and governments solve communication and security issues in
more than 20 countries. LIMA is Group 2000’s portfolio for lawful
interception and data retention products that provide reliable and
cost-effective solutions for all types of communication networks and
data. The solutions can be set up in a company’s own network as a
Corporate Data Retention solution or hosted within an ASP model as a
Managed Data Retention service.
“Under the EU Data Retention Directive, operators and ISPs across
Europe are facing laws that demand them to store the traffic data
records of the communications they handle for their customers,” says
Richard Coppens, managing director of Group 2000. “The volume of
data that these operators will be expected to retain is also growing as
they launch new services and IP traffic increases. In response to these
challenges, we’ve enhanced our data retention solutions to help
customers minimize the upfront investment and ongoing operational costs
of complying with these regulations. When we were looking for a
technology partner to support this effort, we found that RainStor’s
extreme data compression, support for commodity hardware and ease of
maintenance made it an obvious choice as our underlying data management
platform.”
Group 2000 is the latest independent software vendor (ISV) and system
integrator to join the ‘Powered by RainStor’ partner program and embed
RainStor within its online data retentions solutions.
“We continue to attract ISVs looking for easier and more
cost-effective ways to retain historical data within their solutions,”
says Julian Cook, VP marketing and business development at RainStor. “In
the telecommunications industry many operators are only just beginning
to understand the cost and complexity of complying with data retention
mandates using traditional database and data warehouse technologies.
We’re delighted that after an extensive evaluation of our technology,
Group 2000 is convinced that we lead the market in reducing the hardware
and resources required for information storage, retrieval and handover.
The combination of Group 2000’s expertise in this area and our
pioneering technology will deliver real value to Group 2000 customers.”
