New USB 3.0 and eSATA 3.0 Controllers from Addonics

Addonics Technologies, Inc. announced a family of USB 3.0 and eSATA 3.0 controllers that increase data transfer rates 2 to 10 times faster than prior standards.

The Addonics USB 3.0 PCIe controller, for example, can handle up to 4.8Gbps on the PCI Express 2.0 slot, which means users should be able to download Blu-ray movies in less than a minute. It is a simple and economical solution for adding the latest high speed USB 3.0 port to any desktop computer or server and can be installed into any PCI-Express 1X slot.

Among its features are the support of both PCIe 1.0 and PCIe 2.0 slots, the ability to power directly from PCI-Express slot, and the capability for low-to-super speed transactions. It is also hot swappable. The new controller also includes both standard and low-profile brackets. The suggested retail is $35.

The new Addonics USB 3.0 ExpressCard adds the latest high speed USB 3.0 technology for Windows notebooks. Its features include installation into an ExpressCard 34 or 54 slot, an additional 34mm to 54mm bracket for solid fitting to an ExpressCard/54 slot, and the ability to power directly from ExpressCard slot or via an optional external power adapter. It is also hot swappable. The suggested retail is $39.99.

The third and fourth members of the product family are a 6G 2-port eSATA 3.0 and a 6G two-port standard SATA 3.0 PCI-Express Controller. The SATA 3.0 standard doubles the transfer rates of SATA 2.0. The suggested retail for each product is $39.99.

Each controller has a maximum 6Gbits/sec speed when installed onto PCIe 2.0 slot, comes with a choice of two eSATA 3.0 ports for external SATA connection or two standard SATA 3.0 ports for internal drives. Both controllers can also be installed in low profile PCs using the bundled low profile bracket.

The other member of the family is a two-port eSATA 6G ExpressCard, which will instantly add the latest SATA 3.0 standard, with maximum data throughput up to 6Gbits/sec, to laptops via a single ExpressCard 2.0 slot.

Combined with Addonics’ family of eSATA cabling systems, notebook users can enjoy the fastest performance with any external storage devices, as much as ten times the data transfer rate of the USB 2.0. The suggested retail is $45 for the eSATA 6G ExpressCard.

Both USB 3.0 and SATA/eSATA 3.0 are backward compatible to assure users their current peripherals will not become obsolete.
