With up to five 3.5-inch HDDs
By Jean Jacques Maleval | March 9, 2010 at 2:36 pmNew German storage distributor actidata GmbH had already 1U to 4U classical NAS at its catalog, but revealed at CeBIT what is probably the first NAS using on RDX technology from ProStor.
The desktop actiNAS Cube RDX, Linux-based, supports five removable 3.5-inch SATA II HDDs for a raw capacity of up to 10TB. On top of the unit, there is a RDX drive with currently a maximum of 640GB to backup the data and the possibility to extract the removable 2.5-inch unit and to put it in another safe place, like with a tape cartridge. It’s finally a D2D2D system competing with D2D2T configuration.
It includes two gigabit Ethernet ports, can be configured in RAID-0, -1, -5, -6, -10 or in JBOD using a controller from Proware Technology, and is equipped with one eSATA and four USB 2.0 external interfaces.
The actiNAS Cube RDX is priced at €1,000 with three 3.5-inch HDDs and one RDX drive.
actidata’s MD Frank Roszyk also reveals that the capacity of RDX will increase from 640GB to 750GB next April.
