Freecom Entering Into Data Recovery Service
And also launching DualDrive Network Center and external drives
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 10, 2010 at 2:56 pmFreecom, a Mitsubishi Kagaku Media company and manufacturer of external hard drives and portable storage devices, showed its new products and services, as well as its current range of storage and multi-media solutions at this year’s CeBIT in Hannover, Germany.
Freecom presented its complete lineup of external storage products with outstanding designs, new hard drives and optical drives, and a brand-new Data Recovery Service. With a clear theme ‘Securing the World’s data’ all was displayed on a booth in the Planet Reseller area.
“Data storage and security will remain hot topics at this year’s CeBIT as businesses and consumers alike consider the best ways to deal with their growing requirements,” said Cas de Heus, marketing manager EMEA at Freecom. “There are numerous choices available today – from straightforward external hard drives, to additional data recovery services for added security and peace of mind, and solutions designed specifically to deal with increasingly rich, multimedia content. Our range of solutions offers something for everyone.”
What’s new?
Data recovery service
At CeBIT, Freecom will offer a sneak preview of its new affordable Data Recovery service that will cover you in case your hard drive – no matter which brand – has crashed. A hard drive crash is no longer the end of the world; in more than 98% of cases the data is still fully recoverable. Freecom’s newest service is the perfect extension to any hard drive, and gives users valuable peace of mind about the safety of their data. Feel safe, we secure your data.
DualDrive Network Center
Combining the features of our Network Media Center and Network Storage Center, the DualDrive Network Center offers more flexibility. It houses two removable hard drives, which can be configured as fast, high capacity (two drives combined) or safe (one drive copies the other), depending on the user’s requirements. Network storage at its best: reliable, large storage capacity, your data available to you from anywhere in the world.
Universal Hard Drive Sleeves
To avoid scratches and damage to your external hard drive, Freecom has developed two universal sleeves to protect any desktop and mobile hard drive, no matter which brand. With special padded inner lining for the best possible protection, and additional compartments for connection cables and power supply.
Blu-ray
For recording high definition content, a DVD sometimes may not be enough. With HD becoming more and more mainstream, users often require a larger capacity disc. Enter Blu-ray – Blu-ray media can hold up to 50GB (on double layer disc) data, more than enough to store HD movies or large data archives. With Freecom’s Blu-ray Rewriter, you can easily upgrade your optical drive to the latest technology. The Blu-ray Rewriter is also a standard DVD rewriter and is fully compatible with standard DVDs.
Hard Drive XS 3.0
Freecom was the first to announce a USB 3.0 Hard Drive. Reaching speeds of 5000Mbit/s, USB 3.0 provides the fastest transfer speeds to date on an external hard drive. Ideal for data-hungry applications such as real time, high-definition audio/video editing, large graphical files and media streaming. Available now, in the familiar vibration reducing rubber enclosure. Small but fast – the Freecom Hard Drive XS 3.0.
Furthermore Freecom presented the new Hard Drive Classic II, DataBar, Mobile DVDRW II, Hard Drive Dock Quattro and more.
Comments
Freecom is a Mitsubishi Kagaku Media company, but, strangely, its products are not resold by Verbatim, and reciprocally.
At CeBIT, Freecom also shows a dock for SATA 2.5-inch HDDs with USB 3.0
external connector, as well as another one for 2.5- and 3.5-inch HDDs
with an Ethernet connexion, a product never seen before to our
knowledge.
We also discover a new way to secure HDDs with two security AES
encrypted RFID keycards (one user keycard, one master keycard) in
credit card format. The USB hard drive can be locked and unlocked by
presenting a tag (in credit card format) to the drive. Only this
combination will enable to use the HDD and access the data.
Note that the new DualDrive Network Center costs €299 with 2TB, and €499 with 4TB.
