Following 160GB, 320GB, 500GB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 5, 2010 at 3:05 pmDortmund-based actidata GmbH has announced the addition of a new RDX cartridge with 640 GB storage capacity, the largest capacity currently available, to its media range for its hard disk-based system for removable media, actiDisk RDX. By extending the range of media for the actidata RDX, actidata offers its customers the possibility and freedom to increase the capacity of their existing RDX systems without having to make costly investments.
actiDisk RDX is a hard disk-based system for removable media. The RDX system consists of a robust, removable 2.5" hard disk cartridge and a docking station, which runs backups like a tape cartridge. Easy handling makes the actiDisk RDX ideally suitable for application in small or medium sized companies and offers excellent protection for the storage of data and documents which – according to the German law for record-keeping – have to be stored for 10 years. By introducing the 640 GB capacity to its media range – in addition to the existing 160 GB, 320 GB and 500 GB versions – actidata is also underlining its positive stance on the further development of the future-proof RDX technology.
The 640 GB hard disk cartridge is available now at actidata’s authorized distributors at a trade price of 230 euros. The RRP is 338 euros including VAT. Furthermore actidata is offering an internal actiDisk RDX Backup-Kit with 640 GB which consists of a drive, software and the hard disk cartridge. The trade price for the Backup-Kit is 316 euros, the RRP 464 including VAT. The RDX drive is also available as an external drive.

There are two manufacturers of RDX devices, Imation and Tandberg. The relation between actidata and Tandberg being far to be friendly, the German distributor obtains its units from Imation.
