“This is a step change in the ability to support bandwidths needed for 3D and 4K applications in particular, for both processing and immersive visualization needs while maintaining practical power consumption and form-factor needs. Digital Ordinance’s enhanced digital editing hardware using Nethra’s Azores Storage Platform will enable the next generation of video editing and post production. I am personally very excited to see this product in action at the 2010 Storage Visions Conference," stated Tom Coughlin, president of Coughlin Associates and Chairman of the annual Storage Visions Conference.
The integrated solution provides guaranteed frame rate display and image processing capabilities to the 2K and 4K movie production, as well as the immersive and high-resolution visualization markets. This solution has the bandwidth to support displaying content at up to 8K or stereoscopic (3D) at up to 4K. The integration of Frame Thrower and Azores into a working solution enables joint customers in movie post production as well as high-resolution immersive visualization to review and optimize a wide range of their visual assets with a tuned combination of power, physical footprint and pure performance.
“By combining high speed scalable storage with high performance image processing capability, we can display content at the largest resolutions while still guaranteeing real-time performance. This architecture lets us scale up to meet the most demanding quality, performance, and resolution needs of customers,” said Daryll Strauss, CEO of Digital Ordnance.
“This is a step change in the ability to support bandwidths needed for 3D and 4K applications in particular, for both processing and immersive visualization needs while maintaining practical power consumption and form-factor needs,” said Manu Pillai, V.P. Business Development, Nethra Imaging.
About the Azores Platform
The Azores platform enables low-latency, high-bandwidth, remotely attached bulk storage to perform as though locally attached. In doing so, it also leverages the built-in capabilities of ExpEther in low-latency, high bandwidth data transfer coupled with network convergence around Layer 2 Ethernet infrastructure.
About the Frame Thrower Platform
Frame Thrower is a network attached real-time uncompressed playback system for 2K/4K film and HD content that is designed to integrate smoothly into your production or visualization pipeline. It is a turn key system including both custom hardware and software to ensure the best user experience and performance. It can be connected to your choice of display devices via dual link DVI or dual link HD-SDI depending on the model. Dual stream models are also available to support stereoscopic 3D content.
