Communication Agency CDG Selects Arkeia Appliances

For backup

Arkeia Software announced that global communication firm CDG selected Arkeia backup appliances to protect critical customer data and to reduce the cost and complexity of deploying backup server infrastructure.

CDG is a Paris-based global communication and media management firm with renowned branded customers such as GE Capital, AXA Insurance, Eurosport and Chanel. As a creative firm, CDG manages large numbers of rich media files that are critical to their business. Growing in size and number, these files strained CDG’s existing backup solution, making nightly backups unreliable. The company sought a reliable, easy-to-use, and affordable solution to automate data backups across the entire organization. CDG selected the Arkeia Network Backup 300 Series backup appliance with integrated disk and LTO tape drive.

"The ease of implementation and use of the Arkeia backup appliance was crucial to us," explains Samir Ouari, information technology director at CDG. "With this all-in-one appliance, we were able to install and configure the system and run our first backup in less than one hour."

"CDG clients are some of the best brands in the world, and protecting their client data is vital to CDG’s success," said Frederic Renard, managing director of Europe, Arkeia Software. "The Arkeia backup appliances were designed for companies like CDG that require highly reliable, easy to use backup solutions for Mac, Windows and Linux servers and workstations. The 300 Series backup appliance is easy to deploy, easy to manage and is more affordable to deploy and maintain than custom built backup solutions."

Backup Appliances: Affordable and Easy to Use
The Arkeia backup appliance is an affordable and easy to use solution for the midmarket, and is ideally suited for companies with remote offices with limited local technical staff. Integrated backup appliances are affordable because they permit organizations to avoid the high cost of custom integration and come with a single support contract managed by a single support vendor. Just as important, appliances minimize the ongoing costs of management and software updates.

Arkeia’s backup appliances have been designed for simple installation, configuration, and administration. The Arkeia Network Backup appliance offers a Web-based user interface with integrated online wizards, GUI based excludes and includes, and extensive preconfigured backup reports. The appliance comes with preconfigured tape and disk-based backup targets, automated disk-to-disk-to-tape chaining, and is able to replicate content to another appliance over a WAN. With all of these features fully integrated, backup appliances can be installed and configured in 10 minutes and are designed to operate in offices without local information technology resources.

Arkeia Network Backup appliances are available in four series with RAID backup capacities ranging from 1TB to 10TB of useable disk space. Most models are field-upgradeable. The backup appliance also comes with an optional internal DAT or LTO tape drive. External connectivity interfaces, including eSATA, SAS, SCSI, and Fibre Channel, allow for field-deployment of external tape libraries, autoloaders and/or VTLs. All appliances integrate Arkeia Network Backup software and include one year of technical support and product updates.

Arkeia backup appliances are available today. Pricing for models with 13 bundled backup agents starts at $3,100.
