Free Installation of Scale Computing Solutions

For customers of MPC Computers that ceased operations

Scale Computing, developer and manufacturer of Intelligent Clustered Storage’ (ICS) technology, announces that MPC Computer customers who migrate to Scale technology will receive free installation of Scale Computing solutions and one day of free support to help migrate their data. MPC Computers filed for bankruptcy in November 2008 and ceased operations at the end of December 2008, leaving customers without any technical support.

MPC customers who bought DataFRAME nodes (DF140, DF420, DF440, DF240) on Intel-based platforms can now benefit from Scale’s ICS storage solution at a much lower price than the MPC solutions they originally purchased. Each Scale StarterSAN consists of three nodes of varying raw densities: 2TB, 4TB and 8TB. To scale, simply purchase the storage needed and add it to the cluster. An additional 2TB storage node with ICS costs $3,800.

"We understand that many MPC Computer customers were left unsupported and without a migration path toward a new or upgraded solution," said Scott Loughmiller, Chief Product Officer, Scale Computing. "To help them, we‚ve purchased their tech support line and are offering them a clear path forward into our multi-protocol, multi-density clustered storage family of products."

"MPC customers have been left without any tech support, possibly making the solution they purchased inoperable," said Jeff Ready, CEO, Scale Computing. "Scale’s architecture is similar to that of their existing MPC product but there are certainly dramatic business benefits of our third-generation storage. ICS 2.0 reduces costs, increases control and makes storage management more convenient."
