Emulex Licenses Alacritech’s Technology
For Microsoft TCP Chimney offload architecture to be used into CNAs
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 18, 2009 at 3:08 pmEmulex Corporation and Alacritech, Inc. jointly announced to have entered into a licensing agreement giving Emulex access to Alacritech’s patent portfolio, including support for Microsoft’s Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) Chimney architecture for its OneConnect Universal Converged Network Adapters (UCNAs).
“Emulex continues to garner design wins for its OneConnect UCNAs,” said Steve Daheb, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of business development, Emulex. “We are pleased to be working with Alacritech to provide TCP Chimney offload support for our customers using Windows-based servers.”
Emulex OneConnect UCNAs deliver the uncompromised performance of full hardware offload and acceleration for all three protocols (TCP/Internet Protocol (IP), Internet Small Computer System Interface (iSCSI) Adapters and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)) on a single-chip that is optimized to support both IP and storage networking demands. Emulex’s OneConnect UCNAs enable data center managers to meet the performance and architecture requirements of networking, storage and clustering applications with one single integrated adapter solution.
“Alacritech is pleased to be working with Emulex,” said Doug Rainbolt, Vice President of Marketing, Alacritech. “We have an important set of patents that enable improved Windows-based server performance through efficient network processing and it’s great to see Emulex make use of this technology as an integral part of its OneConnect UCNA.”
