StoneFly IP SAN Appliance Achieves Solaris Ready Certification

On Sparc and x64/x86 platforms

StoneFly, Inc., a supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), announced the Solaris Ready certification of their Voyager IP SAN products with Sun’s Solaris 10 Operating System (OS) on SPARC and x64/x86 platforms.

After thorough testing, the Voyager IP SAN aligns with the requirements of the Solaris Ready Program for system compatibility, interoperability, and ease-of-installation. Voyager joins other Solaris Ready certified StoneFly IP SANs such as the Integrated Storage Concentrator (ISC) and OptiSAN product lines.

"We are pleased to add another StoneFly product into the Solaris Ready Program. Solaris Ready partners, such as StoneFly, provide reassurance and investment protection to their customers," said Cynthia Hardenbrook, director, ISV Engineering, Sun Microsystems. "With StoneFly’s complete line of IP SAN products supporting Solaris 10, customers have a wide range of storage systems to utilize with a proven, industry-leading operating system."

Voyager is the newest line of virtualized IP SAN appliances designed to deliver exceptional performance at an economical price point. With its scalable architecture, small-to-medium enterprise (SME) customers have the flexibility to start small, and inexpensively scale, making the Voyager a versatile SAN solution for primary and secondary storage applications.

"We are committed to open platforms, and we’ll continue to work with Sun Microsystems to provide our customers with open, flexible, and high performing storage solutions that meet their growing needs," said Bahman Jalali, director of product management for StoneFly. "In addition, Solaris Ready certification gives our customers complete confidence to grow their businesses without additional hardware or infrastructure costs, making it easy and cost-effective to gain all the benefits of storage centralization via storage virtualization."
