Xiotech Signs Mason General Hospital as Customer
With Emprise 7000 storage system
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on December 1, 2009 at 3:20 pmXiotech Corporation announced that Mason General Hospital recently implemented an Emprise 7000 storage system, powered by Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) technology, to support its current data storage needs, enable future growth and deliver significant capital and operating expense reductions across its data center.
Mason General, located in Shelton, Wash., was rated one of Hospitals & Health Networks magazine’s ‘Most Wired – Rural‘ hospitals in 2008 and 2009 for its superior use of information technology in delivering quality and efficient patient care. The hospital decided it needed a more efficient storage area network (SAN) system to handle its everyday needs and ongoing storage growth, achieve better back-up operations and realize across-the-board cost savings. For Mason General, Emprise 7000 was the optimal solution.
"At our hospital, where our patients’ health is our primary concern, all data we produce and store is critical," said Mason General IT Director Tom Hornburg. "With Emprise 7000 and its self-healing technology, which Xiotech backs with a five-year hardware warranty, we know that our data is safe and we can keep our focus on quality patient care."
Emprise 7000 also provided Mason General with strong overall value. Hornburg added: "With Emprise 7000, we get more usable capacity than we would with other systems, which saves us 30 percent on server costs. Plus, its ability to lower the amount of hardware we own – and its unique drive architecture – has saved us almost 20 percent on cooling our data center, not to mention the valuable floor space it frees up in our small building. All told, we’ll save big money in the long run."
Emprise 7000 supports up to 64 ISE (1,024 terabytes) and is managed by dual controllers. It features the Web Services-based ICON Manager user interface with Virtual View for managing storage in virtualized server environments, a distributed cluster architecture, Intelligent Provisioning and a suite of data replication solutions.
ISE technology, the basis for Xiotech’s Emprise 7000 storage systems, significantly minimizes disk-related service events through a combination of preventive and self-healing capabilities. It offers 100 percent usable storage capacity with no vendor holdbacks or drops in performance, and achieves the industry’s most efficient performance and scalability. In addition, it enables users to cut their ongoing storage costs in half through its five-year warranty and lower overall management costs.
