Apricorn SATA Wire ($19) for Notebooks
An USB connection to any 2.5-inch SATA HDD
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 24, 2009 at 3:18 pmApricorn announced SATA Wire, a do-it-yourself notebook drive upgrade kit that allows consumers to upgrade their drive in three simple steps.
Priced under $20, SATA Wire provides a simple interface from your notebook’s USB port to a 2.5" SATA hard drive or solid state drive (SSD). It also includes intuitive menu driven cloning software that transfers everything from the old drive to the new drive.
Upgrading your notebook drive couldn’t be simpler
Whether you’re running out of space or moving to a faster, high performance hard drive or solid state drive, SATA Wire provides a simple upgrade for your notebook.
- Step One: Connect the SATA Wire to your new SATA drive and to the USB port on your computer.
- Step Two: Run the cloning software. SATA Wire includes both Apricorn’s EZ Gig II Cloning and Imaging software for PC and ShirtPocket’s SuperDuper! for Mac. This intuitive software allows you to easily copy everything from your notebook drive to the new drive including all of your data, applications, email, OS and preferences.
- Step Three: Swap out the old notebook drive with the new drive and you’re done. Notebook computers are generally designed so the hard drive is easily accessible by removing a few screws from the bottom or sides of the computer, making this process a snap.
"Many people think that upgrading a notebook hard drive is too daunting of a task, but with SATA Wire anyone can do it," said Mike McCandless, Apricorn’s VP Sales and Marketing. "Upgrading your notebook to a faster, larger hard drive is now a simple three step process."
